Job Description:

We are seeking a highly experienced General Manager – Plant for one of our esteemed clients Biafo Industries Limited. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing the complete operations of a large-scale production facility — ensuring safe, efficient, and cost-effective operations while maintaining the highest standards of quality, compliance, and sustainability.

Key Responsibilities:

Operations & Production

  • Lead overall plant operations, including production, quality assurance, maintenance, and supply chain.
  • Ensure achievement of production targets (volume, quality, cost, and efficiency).
  • Monitor and optimize plant processes to maximize yields and reduce waste.
  • Oversee raw material planning, inventory control, and resource allocation.

Safety, Quality & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with HSE (Health, Safety & Environment) standards, ISO certifications, and regulatory requirements.
  • Establish and enforce strict quality control procedures.
  • Drive a culture of safety and sustainability across all levels of operations.

People Leadership & Development

  • Lead, mentor, and develop plant management teams and workforce.
  • Foster a performance-driven, accountable, and collaborative culture.
  • Implement training and skill development programs for technical staff.

Financial & Strategic Management

  • Prepare and manage annual plant budgets (OPEX & CAPEX).
  • Drive cost optimization, process efficiency, and productivity improvements.
  • Develop and execute long-term strategies to increase plant competitiveness.
  • Coordinate with top management on business growth, product development, and capacity expansion.

Stakeholder Management

  • Liaise with government bodies, auditors, vendors, and community representatives.
  • Maintain strong coordination with Sales, R&D, and Corporate functions for business alignment.
  • Represent the plant in board meetings and industry forums when required.

Job Requirements:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering / Process Engineering (mandatory).

Experience:

  • 12–15 years of experience in process manufacturing, with at least 5–7 years in a senior leadership role (Plant Head / GM / Operations Director) in the Chemical / Petrochemical / Fertilizer / Specialty Chemicals industry.
  • Proven experience in managing large-scale chemical operations with strong safety and compliance requirements.
  • Demonstrated record of achieving production targets, process improvements, and cost savings.
